IAM Mechanics and Related workers at US Airways are joining together in solidarity and unity to reiterate to US Airways' management that a contract is needed now. Mechanics and Related workers have been in negotiations for almost three years with US Airways and the carrier, while posting record profits, has not made a serious offer to resolve the dispute.

"The proposals this committee has presented to the Company bring the wages more in linewith the industry average, improvements in our pension and sick leave are key issues needed to reach a short term agreement to bring back to this membership for approval," said the IAM Negotiating Committee in a combined statement. little movement, if any, to address our issues in a favorable manner. Their efforts appear tobe more focused on the future merger with American Airlines than the future of Mechanic and Related at US Airways. Our goal remains unchanged. CONTRACT NOW –THEN MERGER!"

The IAM requested a release from mediated talks from the National Mediation Board (NMB) earlier this year and, to date, have not received an answer.

The IAM represents approximately 14,000 workers at US Airways and is the largest union at the carrier.
